Advanced Strings

The St. Veronica Advanced Strings is a more advanced group of string players who play for the 9:00 am masses every other Sunday (when the Children’s Choir is not singing). Requirements for auditioning are excellent sight-reading and intonation skills, as well as good tone quality. We have no weekly rehearsal, but meet at 8:30 am before mass to read through music, then immediately play for mass. This year, we will also be playing for two recorded masses at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday, October 10th. In June 2020, we will be performing in a concert at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More. The group is open to grades 3-12 and college, providing the student meets audition requirements. There is no requirement to be a parishioner or student at St. Veronica. Auditions are by appointment any time of the year.
